John's Gates is owned and operated by John Forrest and is located in Rocky Mount, Virginia. John is a master carpenter formerly from Bowdoin, Maine, and brings 35 years experience and talent to the area. John is also a licensed real estate agent in the Commonwealth of Virginia.

Because John operates with a low overhead, John's Custom Gates' are priced well below that of the competition. Prices range from $600.00 for a 36" by 48" gate similar to gate #1 to $900.00 for a 36" by 60" gate similar to gate #4, built from cedar. Double gate prices vary with design, but average an additional 75% added to the cost of a single gate, provided they are the same design. Cedar is the desired wood species due to its relative light weight compared to that of hardwood, such as teak or Ipe.
